Lil Durk acquitted in murder-for-hire trial but faces racketeering charges

Rapper Lil Durk has been acquitted of all charges in a federal murder-for-hire trial involving an August 2022 shooting in Los Angeles. His lead defense counsel, Drew Findling, stated that the artist is pleased with the results following an emotionally draining experience.

Despite the acquittal, Durk remains in custody as he faces a second trial involving VICAR (racketeering) charges, which allege he operated a criminal enterprise. This upcoming trial has faced delays as the prosecution prepares its strategy. A bond hearing is scheduled for November 5, where Durk will learn if he can be released pending the trial.

Commentators, including DJ Akademiks, have suggested that federal authorities are working intensely to secure a conviction in the racketeering case following the recent loss in the murder-for-hire trial.
