Lil Durk allegedly rejected peace offering from Quando Rondo
Federal prosecutors have filed new documents alleging that rapper Lil Durk rejected a peace offering from an affiliate of Quando Rondo in late 2022. The filing comes ahead of Durk's upcoming trial for murder-for-hire charges related to an August 2022 shooting.
According to the prosecution, Durk sent a text and voice note on Christmas Day 2022 stating he would not “hop on the phone to squash” the rivalry because it was “for thang and von,” referring to his late associates. Prosecutors claim Durk also made a reference to a “switch,” which they allege is a nod to the machine gun used in the shooting that killed Saviay'a Robinson, Rondo's cousin.
Investigators allege that Durk orchestrated the 2022 shooting as revenge for the death of King Von. The government intends to use these communications to demonstrate Durk's motive and leadership over his alleged co-conspirators. Durk, who has pleaded not guilty, is currently facing a possible life sentence. Jury selection is scheduled to begin on August 20.
