Lil Durk murder-for-hire trial reaches closing arguments

Closing arguments have commenced in the federal murder-for-hire trial of rapper Lil Durk, also known as Durk Banks, in Los Angeles. Prosecutors allege that Banks orchestrated a 2022 revenge mission targeting rival rapper Quando Rondo to avenge the death of King Von. The government contends that Banks used his wealth and influence to fund a hit team that traveled from Chicago to Los Angeles, resulting in a shooting near the Beverly Center that killed Rondo's cousin, Saviay'a Robinson.

The defense has rested its case without calling Banks to the stand. Defense attorneys argue that the prosecution’s case is built on a “tsunami of reasonable doubt” and relies on the testimony of cooperating witnesses who are attempting to avoid life sentences. They suggest that Banks' former personal assistant, Kavon Grant, was the true mastermind behind the plot.

One witness, OTF Jam, has publicly criticized Banks following his testimony. Meanwhile, defense counsel Brian Steel has attacked the credibility of the government's star witnesses, characterizing them as individuals seeking legal benefits through their cooperation. Banks faces potential life imprisonment if convicted of conspiracy, stalking, and murder-for-hire charges.
