Lil Durk legal team contests gag order and music video evidence

Rapper Lil Durk and his legal team are contesting several pre-trial motions in his federal murder-for-hire case. The defense has filed opposition to a proposed gag order requested by prosecutors, who argue that public comments from the defense could taint jury selection. Durk’s attorneys countered that the government has already shaped public perception through indictments and press releases, stating, “The government should not be permitted to throw rocks and then hide its hands.”

Additionally, the defense is fighting the admission of Durk’s 2022 music video for “Pissed Me Off” as evidence. Prosecutors claim the video demonstrates a willingness to enact violent revenge for the death of King Von. However, Durk’s lawyers argue the video does not meet specific court criteria for inclusion and that prosecutors have misinterpreted the song’s subject matter and visual content.

Durk is accused of arranging a hit on rapper Quando Rondo, an act intended as revenge for the killing of King Von that resulted in the death of Durk’s cousin. The trial is scheduled to begin on August 20.
