Lil Durk acquitted in federal murder-for-hire trial
A federal jury in Los Angeles has acquitted Chicago rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, on all charges related to a murder-for-hire plot. The case involved an alleged 2022 retaliatory shooting targeting rapper Quando Rondo, which instead resulted in the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
Prosecutors argued that Banks financed and directed the attack as revenge for the 2020 killing of his associate, King Von. During the trial, the government used rap lyrics as evidence and relied on testimony from former associates. The defense countered by challenging the credibility of cooperating witnesses and suggesting other individuals were responsible for the scheme.
While Lil Durk was acquitted of all counts, his co-defendants, Deandre Wilson and David Lindsey, were convicted of conspiracy to commit stalking and stalking resulting in death, though they were also acquitted of the murder-for-hire charges. Despite the acquittal, Banks remains in federal custody pending a separate trial on racketeering charges.
