Lil Durk trial to include 6ix9ine podcast interview as evidence

A federal judge has ruled that an excerpt from a DJ Akademiks podcast interview featuring 6ix9ine and Wack 100 will be admitted as evidence in the murder-for-hire trial of rapper Lil Durk.

Prosecutors intend to use the August 2021 interview to demonstrate how public pressure and online taunts regarding the death of King Von may have influenced Durk. In the clip, 6ix9ine criticizes Durk for not seeking violent retaliation for Von’s death. The government argues that this public discourse contributed to the circumstances surrounding an August 2022 shooting in Los Angeles, which prosecutors allege Durk orchestrated.

While Durk’s legal team contested the relevance of the video and denied that their client had viewed the interview, the court ruled the excerpt admissible. Jury selection for the trial is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 20.
