Lil Wayne handwritten lyrics valued at $5M
Handwritten lyrics from rapper Lil Wayne’s early career, dating back to 1999, are being offered for sale for $5 million following a legal battle over ownership. The documents consist of several sheets of looseleaf paper containing lyrics to tracks such as “I Feel” and “We On Fire,” which appeared on the Hot Boys’ 1999 album Guerilla Warfare.
The lyrics were reportedly discovered nearly 27 years ago by an individual at a New Orleans car dealership after items were discarded during a vehicle trade-in involving Cash Money Records co-founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams. The owner kept the pages for decades before attempting to sell them through the auction agency Moments In Time in 2019.
A legal dispute arose when Lil Wayne’s legal team issued a cease-and-desist letter, claiming the rapper had misplaced the notebook. In 2023, attorney Louis Koerner Jr. filed a lawsuit in Orleans Parish Civil District Court on behalf of his client to establish legal ownership and authenticity of the documents under Louisiana law.
