La Libertad Avanza prepares new legislative projects on debt and disability
The ruling La Libertad Avanza (LLA) party is preparing its own legislative projects in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies regarding disability emergency and household debt. This move aims to compete with opposition proposals and attract moderate lawmakers during upcoming votes.
On the issue of disability, the government seeks to address the extension of the Disability Emergency law. While the opposition has a consensus project to extend the current law for one year, LLA is developing its own approach, which must be coordinated with the Executive to ensure budget allocations for 2025.
Regarding household debt, LLA is drafting a proposal focused on transparency for new loans rather than debt forgiveness. The initiative, supported by figures like Santiago Pauli and Patricia Bullrich, includes a mandatory ‘front-of-package labeling’ system for bank and fintech loans to clearly show real costs, as well as a ‘double consent’ mechanism for digital transactions to ensure informed borrowing.
