Lilian Laslandes reflects on career milestones and Champions League controversies
Former French striker Lilian Laslandes has reflected on significant moments from his professional career, including a controversial Champions League match involving Bordeaux and Manchester United in March 2000.
During that fixture, Laslandes was sent off within a minute of receiving a yellow card. After contesting an offside decision, he received a first booking, followed immediately by a red card for a tackle on David Beckham. The match, which Bordeaux led 1-0 at the time, ultimately ended in a 1-2 victory for Manchester United following a late goal by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Laslandes also recalled a frustrating moment during the 1996-1997 Champions League quarter-finals while playing for AJ Auxerre, where an acrobatic goal against Borussia Dortmund was disallowed by the referee.
