Lilian Samaniego accuses Gustavo Leite of undermining national interests

Senator Lilian Samaniego has accused fellow legislator Gustavo Leite of acting against national interests, labeling him a “vende patria” (traitor) amid internal tensions within the Colorado Party. The conflict stems from a request made to the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) regarding the operations of Ueno Bank.

Samaniego claimed that Leite’s actions have caused uncertainty and anxiety among savers, including retirees. She criticized Leite’s previous tenure as ambassador to the United States, alleging it yielded little benefit for the country. Leite has dismissed the accusations, characterizing them as part of a “political assassination” game.
