Liliputbahn to run until midnight in Vienna Prater
The historic Liliputbahn in the Vienna Prater is hosting its 14th Long Night, offering rare extended operating hours until midnight. While the railway typically concludes summer operations around 8 PM, this special event allows passengers to ride through the park after sunset.
The approximately four-kilometer route begins at the Prater Hauptbahnhof and travels through the Wurstelprater and the Green Prater woods toward the Ernst-Happel Stadium. A notable highlight of the event is the return of the approximately 90-year-old steam locomotives, which had recently been sidelined due to extreme heat.
Operating on a 38-centimeter track gauge, the Liliputbahn has been running since 1928 and is recognized as the oldest 15-inch railway on the European mainland. During the event, trains depart every 30 minutes, with ticket options including special amenities for adults and children.
