Lilit Galstyan calls for OSCE visit to Armenian detainees in Baku

Armenian lawmaker and ARF Bureau member Lilit Galstyan has called for a humanitarian visit to Baku to assess the condition of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees held in Azerbaijan.

Addressing the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Autumn Meeting in Andorra on October 7, Galstyan reported that detainees have faced closed-door trials for nearly three years and have been deprived of family visits. She noted that information from the European Court of Human Rights has raised concerns regarding the physical and psychological well-being of the hostages.

Galstyan highlighted that access to the detainees by the International Committee of the Red Cross has been denied for nearly a year, and no neutral third party has been permitted to visit. She urged the OSCE PA to take concrete action regarding its human rights commitments and expressed a willingness to travel to Baku personally to address the situation.
