Lilli Tagger loses WTA-500 warm-up match in Monterrey

Lilli Tagger lost her opening match at the WTA-500 tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, serving as a final warm-up before the US Open. The 18-year-old Austrian fell to Ukraine’s Julia Starodubzewa in straight sets, 3-6, 4-6, in a match lasting approximately 1 hour and 42 minutes.

Despite a brief lead in the second set, Tagger was unable to convert her advantage, ultimately losing the match on her first match point. While Tagger’s run in Monterrey has ended, she remains set to compete in the main draw of the US Open.
