Lillo faces discipline after creative essay is rejected by teacher
A narrative follows a boy named Lillo who writes a creative essay beginning with the line, ‘Las carretillas se las lleva el viento cuando no transportan más que hojas secas’ (Wheelbarrows are carried away by the wind when they transport nothing but dry leaves).
Despite the boy's attempt to write about how heavy objects can become light, his teacher, Doña Remedios, dismisses the work as nonsense and gives him a failing grade. This decision leads to domestic consequences, as Lillo's parents, following traditional values, punish him by preventing him from accompanying his father to the fields for two weeks.
