LilWin sparks debate over professionalism in Ghanaian and Nigerian film industries

Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, known as LilWin, has sparked debate within the West African film industry by stating that Nigerian actors are more professional and business-minded than his Ghanaian counterparts. LilWin claimed that Nigerian stars respond more quickly to scripts and contracts, whereas some local actors are often unresponsive to calls.

LilWin’s comments follow his decision to cast several Nollywood stars, including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, and Mike Ezuruonye, in his upcoming production, ‘A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu).’ He noted that the inclusion of Nigerian talent aims to bring fresh energy and a wider international fan base to his projects.

In response to the backlash regarding Kanayo O. Kanayo’s previous remarks about Ghanaian actors' fee demands, comedian Parrot Mouth defended the veteran Nollywood actor. Parrot Mouth argued that LilWin’s public discussions regarding the costs of bringing Nigerian stars to Ghana have undermined the reputation of local actors and created a perception of inferiority within the Ghanaian film industry.
