Nattai National Park search continues for missing teen hiker

A large-scale search and rescue operation is underway in Nattai National Park, New South Wales, for 18-year-old Lily Hooper, who has been missing since Wednesday. Hooper, described as an experienced hiker, was last seen leaving her home in Oakdale on Wednesday morning. Her car was discovered parked at the Bonnum Pic trailhead late that night.

Emergency services, including NSW Police, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, are conducting the search. Rescuers have utilized thermal imaging helicopters, drones, and ground crews to comb through the dense bushland and rugged terrain. Despite the efforts, authorities report finding “no trace” of the teenager so far.

Weather conditions, including cold, wet, and foggy conditions, have hampered search efforts. Chief Inspector Brendan Bernie stated that while the dense tree canopy makes aerial searches difficult, the operation remains a rescue mission with hopes of finding Hooper alive and safe.
