Lim Eun-jung vows to criticize new Major Crimes Investigation Agency head

Lim Eun-jung, head of the Gwangju regional office of the Major Crimes Investigation Agency (MCIA), has declared her intention to continue providing harsh criticism and advice to the agency's new head, Kim Ji-yong, should he commit errors.

Following a visit to the May 18th National Cemetery to reflect on past investigative failures and emphasize human rights, Lim addressed the media regarding her status as the first subject of an internal inspection within the newly established agency. She expressed that she views this inspection as an opportunity to establish precedents regarding the rights and duties of public officials and the limits of freedom of expression.

The tension between Lim and Kim stems from Lim's previous allegations regarding Kim's handling of sexual misconduct cases during his tenure in the prosecution service. While Kim has characterized Lim's public criticisms as actions that undermine organizational discipline, Lim maintains she will fulfill her duties as a public official to stand for what is right.
