South Korea appoints Lim Kwang-hyun as Presidential Chief of Staff

President Lee Jae-myung has made several key personnel appointments to stabilize his administration. Lim Kwang-hyun, the current Commissioner of the National Tax Service, has been appointed as the new Presidential Chief of Staff, succeeding Kang Hoon-sik. Lim, an experienced economic official and former lawmaker, is expected to focus on delivering tangible results for public livelihood.

The appointment of Lim has drawn scrutiny from opposition leaders, who raised concerns regarding potential favoritism due to his brother-in-law's legal ties to the President. However, the Blue House dismissed these claims, stating that Lim was chosen for his proven administrative capabilities and expertise in tax administration.

Simultaneously, Kim Ji-yong has officially begun his duties as the first head of the Major Crime Investigation Agency (MCIA). Following his appointment and the adoption of his confirmation report by the National Assembly, Kim is tasked with organizing the new agency, securing personnel, and establishing investigative protocols in coordination with other law enforcement bodies.

Regarding governance, President Lee reaffirmed the principle of transparency, stating that while certain sensitive matters may be discussed in private sessions, the administration's general operations and cabinet meetings should remain open to the public to maintain trust.
