Lim Kwang-hyun urges Blue House staff to provide honest advice
Lim Kwang-hyun, the new Chief of Staff of the Blue House, held a meeting with staff at the Yeongbingwan on the 19th to discuss the role of the presidency and the importance of public service discipline.
Drawing on his past experience as an administrative officer during the Roh Moo-hyun administration, Lim emphasized that the goal of the staff should be the success of the Lee Jae-myung government to improve citizens' lives. He instructed staff not to act merely as messengers for various ministries but to proactively coordinate national affairs and find ways to make difficult tasks possible.
Regarding the role of aides, Lim stated that they should support the president by being “half a step ahead or half a step behind” and encouraged them to provide honest, even critical, advice. He also called for strict adherence to professional conduct and discipline among public officials. During the session, staff members suggested ways to better incorporate field voices and expert opinions into policy-making.
