Lima to Host The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 – First Time in South America

Lima will host The World's 50 Best Restaurants on 4 November 2026, marking the first edition of the prestigious culinary awards to be held in Peru and in South America. The ceremony will be accompanied by a week‑long programme that includes the #50BestTalks forum, 50 Best Signature Sessions – collaborative public dinners with internationally‑renowned chefs – and a Chefs’ Feast showcasing regional Peruvian ingredients and techniques. Organisers highlighted the event’s role in promoting Peru’s biodiversity, culinary heritage and tourism, noting that gastronomic travel is among the top motivations for international visitors.

The selection follows Peru’s recent success on the global stage, with Maido named World’s Best Restaurant in 2025 and Central winning the top spot in 2023. Authorities expect the event to generate significant economic impact through hotel bookings, spending by visitors and heightened media exposure, reinforcing Lima’s reputation as a leading food destination.
