Lima Film Festival raises prize money and premieres Mendoza's film ELLAS
The 30th edition of the Lima Film Festival announced a major increase in cash prizes for Peruvian productions, boosting award amounts by up to 400% across categories and adding new award sections. Festival artistic director Josué Méndez said the aim is to invest fully in the present and future of Peruvian cinema and to help films travel beyond the festival circuit through new alliances with international events.
The competition also featured the premiere of Eduardo Mendoza De Echave's new film ELLAS, described as his most personal work. The drama explores invisible family bonds, migration and domestic work through the stories of several women and stars Mirella Villalobos, Norma Martínez, Jimena Lindo, Katia Salazar, Ana Cecilia Natteri and Flor Castillo. The film will move on to commercial release after its festival screening.
