Lima Grand Prix judo competition begins in Peru

The Lima Grand Prix in Peru marks the return of the IJF World Tour, featuring over 320 judokas from 54 countries. The competition serves as a key event for athletes seeking points toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualification period.

Brazil is sending a large delegation of 27 athletes, including Olympic medalists Larissa Pimenta and Beatriz Souza, as well as several returning medalists from the previous edition. The Brazilian team aims to build on their previous success where they secured 11 medals and the overall championship.

Great Britain is also represented by an eight-person squad. The British team includes a mix of established competitors, recent medalists, and World Tour debutants, such as Cameron Charles and Summer Shaw, as they begin their pursuit of Olympic qualification.
