Lima Judo Grand Prix earns praise as Keagan Young reaches career milestone

The 2026 Judo Grand Prix in Lima, Peru, has been recognized by participating athletes as a premier international sporting event due to its high standards of organization, logistics, and hospitality. The tournament serves as a key preparatory event for the upcoming 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.

In competition, Canadian judoka Keagan Young achieved a career-best fifth-place finish in the under 90 kg category. After securing victories against opponents from the United Kingdom and the United States, Young narrowly missed a bronze medal, losing to Brazil’s Guilherme Schmidt via yuko in a golden score period.

Other Canadian competitors, including Coralie Godbout, Frédérique Lavigne, and Guillaume Gaulin, did not secure rankings following their respective matches in Lima.
