Lima Municipality to take legal action against Mayor Francis Allison

The Metropolitan Municipality of Lima (MML) and its strategic projects company, EMAPE, have announced they will initiate legal and criminal actions against Francis Allison, the mayor of Magdalena del Mar. The legal action stems from the alleged unauthorized removal of a traffic safety camera installed in January 2025 on the Costa Verde stretch within his district.

MML stated the equipment was intended for speed measurement studies to identify risks and reduce accident rates. The municipality expressed strong rejection of any unauthorized intervention in public goods. Allison has countered by questioning the legality of fines issued without proper signage, arguing the equipment was placed without his municipality's consent.

The dispute occurs amid the upcoming regional and municipal elections on October 4. Allison is a candidate for the mayoralty of Lima, competing against former mayor Rafael López Aliaga. The current administration of the Lima Municipality is led by Renzo Reggiardo.
