Limanowa holds consultations to name roundabout after Józef Joniec

The city of Limanowa has launched public consultations to commemorate Rev. Col. Józef Joniec by naming one of two local roundabouts after him. Mayor Jolanta Juszkiewicz announced the initiative, which offers residents a choice between two locations: the intersection of Zygmunt August and Żwirki i Wigury streets, or the intersection of Piłsudskiego, Jana Pawła II, Kopernika, and Kolejowa streets.

The consultations began on October 21 and will run until November 3. Residents can participate via an electronic survey on the city's website or through anonymous paper forms available at the Limanowa City Hall. The results will serve as advisory material for the Limanowa City Council.

The proposal comes during the 70th anniversary of Joniec's death and the 120th anniversary of his birth. Józef Joniec was a prominent legionnaire and soldier who served in World War I, the Polish-Soviet War, and World War II, notably serving as a chaplain during the battles of Tobruk and Monte Cassino.
