Limassol hosts site-specific art performance TWELFTH NIGHT
Visual artist Evelyn Anastasiou has conceived ‘TWELFTH NIGHT’, a site-specific performance taking place across three locations in central Limassol: the Pattihio Municipal Theatre, its public courtyard, and The Edit Gallery.
Inspired by Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’, the project explores themes of misrule, disguise, and the overturning of social hierarchies. The work merges two contrasting cultural expressions: the post-war film musical and contemporary punk culture. While the musical genre transforms social anxiety into collective spectacle, punk utilizes noise and DIY culture to confront power structures and war.
The event features the Cyprus debut of Hautaustoimisto, a hardcore punk ‘n’ roll band from Tampere, Finland. Their participation is part of Anastasiou’s ongoing research into the Finnish punk scene and the Puntala-Rock festival.
