Limassol Lifesavers rescue child swept out to sea

A three-year-old child was rescued after being swept out to sea on an inflatable boat near Lady’s Mile in Limassol, Cyprus. The incident occurred around 17:50 on a Monday when the child, who cannot swim, drifted away from his father's supervision due to strong winds.

Upon realizing the child was drifting away, the father and three friends entered the water to attempt a rescue but became exhausted and called for help. The Limassol Lifesaving Unit (LEM 17 – Lady’s Mile) responded immediately. Lifesavers reached the panicked child, calmed him, and used a jet ski to safely transport both the child and the four adults back to the shore.

The child was returned to his family unharmed. Lifesaving officials noted that this marks the 17th similar incident handled by the LEM 17 unit during the current period. Authorities have issued an appeal to parents to maintain constant supervision of young children, especially during windy conditions.
