Limassol lifesavers rescue Nepalese couple from drowning

Lifesavers in Limassol successfully rescued a 25-year-old man from Nepal after he struggled to swim near the rocks at Olympia Coast. The incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon around 17:30.

The man, who had limited swimming abilities, began to sink while attempting to return to the shore from a rocky area. In a state of panic, he grabbed his wife, putting both individuals at risk of drowning. Lifesavers monitoring the area identified the man as a weak swimmer in a dangerous location and responded immediately with a rescue board.

Bystanders located approximately 20 meters away also rushed to assist. The rescue was supported by a nearby lifesaving station equipped with a jet ski. After being brought safely to shore, the man received first aid from the lifesavers and did not require further medical transport. The Limassol Lifesaving Unit issued a reminder for citizens to avoid swimming in difficult or rocky areas if they are not skilled swimmers and to remain calm during emergencies.
