Limassol schools to receive full air conditioning by 2027
The Limassol School Board is overseeing the installation of air conditioning units and the upgrading of electrical systems across schools in the Limassol district. Nikos Agiomamitis, President of the Board, stated that all high schools in the city and province have now been equipped with air conditioning units that have been inspected by the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) following electrical load upgrades.
Currently, coverage for middle schools is at approximately 50%. The installation phase for middle schools is expected to conclude by October, which will be followed by electrical connection and infrastructure upgrades. The goal is to have fully functional air conditioning systems in all middle schools by the early months of 2027.
Delays in the project are attributed to the age of many school buildings, which necessitates extensive electrical upgrades. For instance, Tsireio Middle School requires the undergrounding of electrical lines. Additionally, the board is working on issuing certificates of suitability for electrical installations in cooperation with the EAC to ensure safety standards are met.
