Limeira water main burst causes injuries and supply disruptions

A water main burst near the Jaguari River in Limeira caused significant service disruptions and injured a worker on Tuesday. The incident occurred during maintenance on a raw water pipeline used to transport water to the Dr. Paulo D’Andrea Water Treatment Plant in Parque Hipólito.

The worker, employed by a service provider, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. BRK, the local water and sewage concessionaire, stated that the circumstances of the accident are under investigation.

Repairs to the large-scale pipeline were completed by Tuesday night, at which point the system was reconnected. Water from the Jaguari and Pinhal rivers is being pumped back to the treatment plant to undergo purification before being redistributed to the public network.
