Limeni village gains international attention for Mani architecture

Limeni, a coastal village in the Mani region of the Peloponnese, has gained international attention for its distinctive landscape and traditional architecture. The settlement is characterized by stone houses built directly alongside the rocky coastline, creating a visual contrast between the grey stone and the blue sea.

Unlike typical sandy beaches, the coastline of Limeni is dominated by rocks and clear waters. The area maintains a strong historical identity, evidenced by the presence of traditional towers that date back to the Ottoman era.

The village is also home to significant historical landmarks related to the Mavromichalis family, prominent figures in the Greek Revolution of 1821. The Tower of Petrobey Mavromichalis, a four-story structure, currently operates as a boutique hotel and serves as a site of historical importance.
