Limerick murder-suicide investigation involving Brazilian national

Gardaí are investigating a murder-suicide involving a Brazilian woman, Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, in Limerick, Ireland. Ms. Rosa, a 33-year-old law graduate, was found stabbed to death in her apartment on Lower Cecil Street on Friday, August 21.

Her husband, Judismar Wesley Batista, was identified as the primary suspect. His body was discovered approximately 12 hours later in Blackrock, Co. Cork. Authorities believe the couple’s relationship had recently broken down.

A vigil was held in Limerick by the feminist movement Limerick ROSA to honor Ms. Rosa and to protest against gender-based violence. Community members and activists expressed grief and called for greater awareness and education regarding femicide and the safety of women.
