Limón Marina project advances through public-private alliance

During celebrations for Afro-Costa Rican Culture Day in Limón, Costa Rican officials and legislators highlighted the progress of the Limón Marina and Cruise Terminal project. The project, which received legislative approval on June 25, will be developed through a strategic alliance model. This framework allows the Atlantic Coast Port and Economic Development Board (Japdeva) to work alongside a private partner to share risks, decisions, and results.

While the project represents a significant infrastructure milestone, political tensions remain regarding the historical neglect of the Caribbean region. Opposition deputy Mangell McLean criticized the government for failing to address long-standing issues such as road connectivity on Route 32, healthcare access, and employment. McLean noted that despite the legislative progress, there is a perceived gap between approved projects and their actual materialization in the province.
