Limoeiro motel attack leaves one woman dead and another injured

A 29-year-old woman died and a 35-year-old woman was seriously injured following an attack at a motel in the rural area of Limoeiro, Pernambuco. The incident occurred on Saturday morning in a suite located near the PE-50 highway.

A man who was with the two victims was arrested in flagrante delicto. Authorities suspect the man assaulted the women and subsequently set fire to a mattress inside the suite. Police are investigating the case as feminicide, attempted feminicide, and arson. Investigators believe the fire may have been intentionally set to destroy evidence.

Firefighters arrived to find that employees had already controlled the flames, which were restricted to the mattress. The suspect received medical treatment for smoke inhalation but remains in police custody.
