Taiwan Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung visits Palau for Pacific Islands Forum events

Taiwanese Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung is leading an eight-day official visit to Palau, beginning August 27, to participate in activities related to the 55th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF). This visit marks a return to PIF-related events following Taiwan's exclusion from the 2025 gathering in the Solomon Islands.

During the trip, Lin will attend the 30th Taiwan/Republic of China–Forum Countries Dialogue and the Pacific Prosperity Exhibit. These events aim to showcase cooperation in areas such as digital resilience, renewable energy, climate change adaptation, infrastructure, and smart healthcare. Lin is scheduled to meet with Palau's President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. and Vice President Raynold B. Oilouch, and visit the Palau National Hospital.

The delegation utilizes a “comprehensive diplomacy” approach, incorporating representatives from the business sector, including industries such as energy, technology, food, construction, and organic agriculture. The mission seeks to deepen political and economic ties, promote trade and investment, and expand Taiwan's presence in the Pacific region through partnerships with like-minded nations.
