Lin Deng Cup International Basketball Invitational begins in Yilan

The 9th Lin Deng Cup Youth International Basketball Invitational has commenced at Yilan Senior High School, featuring 21 teams from Taiwan and Japan. The five-day tournament consists of 68 matches designed to provide young players with international competitive experience.

This year’s event includes prominent Taiwanese high school teams such as Guangfu, Taishan, and Jinhe. The international contingent features Japanese teams including Shibashino High School, Municipal Kashiwa High School, and the Chiba Jets U18 youth team from the B. LEAGUE professional circuit.

The tournament serves as a strategic developmental platform for new players during the transition period between graduating seniors and incoming freshmen. Organizers noted that moving the event to the summer allows coaches to test rookies in high-intensity environments before the official HBL season begins.
