Lin Feng-hsi, DPP founding elder, endorses Chiang Chi-chen

Lin Feng-hsi, a founding elder of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and former legislator, has publicly endorsed Kuomintang (KMT) Taichung mayoral candidate Chiang Chi-chen. During the establishment of the ‘Sea Dragon and Frog Soldiers Support Chiang Chi-chen’ group, Lin served as the head of the advisory group.

Lin criticized the current DPP, stating that the party has abandoned its founding spirit, democratic ideals, and the will of the people. Political analysts noted that Lin’s support may stem from his alignment with the ‘Formosa faction,’ which often holds different views from the ‘New Tide faction’ currently influential within the DPP.

KMT Taoyuan City Councilor Ling Tao suggested that Lin’s endorsement is a signal of successful local political integration. He predicted that Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen would increase her support for Chiang, potentially fostering an ‘opposition alliance’ to counter the perceived misuse of judicial and administrative resources by the DPP.
