Lin Kuo-chang unveils Yilan industrial development plan

Yilan County Magistrate candidate Lin Kuo-chang has unveiled the ‘Yilan Golden Decade Industrial Development Plan,’ a strategic proposal aimed at retaining local youth and attracting outside talent through technological transformation and new economic models.

The plan is built upon three primary pillars:

First, the integration of AI across various sectors. Lin aims to secure central government funding to assist the food, agriculture, fishery, manufacturing, and hospitality industries in addressing labor shortages. He also proposes establishing Yilan as a national testing hub for drones and unmanned vehicles, leveraging the region's diverse terrain of mountains, forests, and oceans.

Second, the migration of industries from the Taipei metropolitan area to Yilan. This involves seeking to establish an Academia Sinica branch in the High-Speed Rail Special Zone to connect research, incubation, and industrialization with National Ilan University and the Yilan Science Park.

Third, the development of a ‘healthy lifestyle new economy.’ This initiative seeks to transform Yilan into a destination for health-oriented consumption by upgrading sports events into year-round city brands and developing long-term residential products for the active elderly population, combining medical services, hot springs, and local agricultural products.
