Lin Xiucheng, actual controller of San'an Optoelectronics, arrested

Lin Xiucheng, the actual controller of San'an Optoelectronics, has been formally arrested on suspicion of job embezzlement and misappropriation of funds. The arrest follows a period of investigation that began in March 2026 when Lin was placed under detention by supervisory authorities. Lin, a former chairman of both San'an Optoelectronics and Fujian San'an Steel, has not held an official position at the company since July 2017.

The arrest coincides with significant financial and operational challenges for the LED chip manufacturer. In the first half of 2026, San'an reported revenues of 6.47 billion RMB, a 28% decrease from the previous year, and a net loss of 97.9 million RMB. The company's non-recurring net loss reached 504 million RMB.

Furthermore, the Lin family's control over the company is under pressure. The shares held by the company's controlling shareholders, Xiamen San'an Electronics and Fujian San'an Group, have been frozen. Multiple creditors have applied for bankruptcy reorganization of these entities. Additionally, San'an has faced setbacks in its expansion, including a delayed production timeline for its Hubei miniLED and microLED plant, now rescheduled for June 2028.
