Lina Matjošaitytė denies receiving payment for consulting ‘Nemuno aušra’

Lina Matjošaitytė, a member of the Central Electoral Commission (VRK), has denied receiving any payment for providing consultations to the political party ‘Nemuno aušra’. The controversy arose following reports that Matjošaitytė may have assisted the party in preparing responses to the commission regarding campaign financing violations.

Rimantas Žemaitaitis, leader of ‘Nemuno aušra’, characterized the allegations as ‘absurd speculation’ and stated that while he had engaged in informal discussions with Matjošaitytė, no professional services were contracted or paid for. He maintained that the party handles most issues internally and would hire specialists if formal consulting were required.

Matjošaitytė addressed the VRK members, asserting that she has no contractual relationship with the party and has not received a single euro from them. She cited professional secrecy and legal regulations regarding her work as a lawyer to decline further comment on specific details of her professional activities. The Chief Official Ethics Commission (VTEK) has been tasked with investigating the matter following a formal complaint.
