Gerard Piqué mourns the death of his grandmother at 102

Lina Rovira Montsant, the paternal grandmother of former footballer Gerard Piqué, has passed away at the age of 102. The matriarch of the family died in Spain, with her passing noted for her long life and her close bond with her grandson, having witnessed much of his professional career with FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

Funeral services were held with discretion in the municipality of Sant Guim de Freixenet, in the province of Lleida. Following a wake on Tuesday, a funeral mass was held on Wednesday at the church of Sagrat Cor. Gerard Piqué attended the ceremony, appearing visibly affected by the loss. He was accompanied by his partner, Clara Chía, who provided support to him and his family during the proceedings.

The family has maintained privacy regarding the specific causes of death. Piqué's children, Milan and Sasha, were not present at the services as they are currently residing in the United States with their mother, Shakira.
