Linares celebrates Virgin of Linarejos with new heritage project

The Cofradía de Nuestra Señora de Linarejos has announced a project to create a new ceremonial outfit (terno) for the Virgin of Linarejos to commemorate her 800th anniversary. The new piece aims to recover lost historical and patrimonial elements by using historical paintings and photographs as references to reconstruct the original attire that disappeared during the Civil War. The design will be led by Pedro Antonio Cruz Mayenco, with gold embroidery executed by Manuel Lozano Pozo.

In related celebrations, the Virgin of Linarejos was recently processed through the streets of Linares to the Basilica of Santa María la Mayor for her Novena festivities. For this extraordinary procession, the image wore a historic bottle-green outfit embroidered in gold, complemented by new Brussels lace. The religious icon also displayed several significant items, including the Gold Medal of the City and various gold jewelry pieces.
