Linares de Mora attracts autumn tourists in Teruel
Linares de Mora, a village in Teruel with 242 inhabitants, is experiencing a seasonal surge in tourism during the autumn months. The municipality serves as a representative example of the challenges and opportunities facing ‘España vaciada’ (empty Spain), where rural housing and seasonal visitors provide vital economic activity.
The village is characterized by its historical architecture, featuring Arabic tile roofs integrated into the mountain landscape, medieval walls, and three distinct portals. Notable landmarks include the 18th-century Baroque Church of the Immaculate Conception and the remains of a castle documented since 1202.
Natural attractions in the surrounding Sierra de Gúdar, including hazelnut trees, lindens, and maples, draw visitors seeking autumn foliage. Tourism Aragon highlights the area for its hiking routes, such as the path to the monumental Pino del Escobón and the medieval stone bridge. As of 2025, the village is part of the ‘Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España’ association.
