Linares debuts two new giant figures for San Agustín Fair

The Real Feria de San Agustín 2026 in Linares will debut two new giant figures representing the Marqueses de Linares. These 3.5-meter-tall figures depict José de Murga y Reolid and Raimunda Ossorio, historical figures who served as benefactors to both Linares and Calatayud.

Commissioned by the Linares City Council and crafted in Calatayud by artist José María Sánchez, the giants are set to participate in the inaugural parade. The decision to acquire these permanent figures follows the successful appearance of temporary giants from the Calatayud cultural groups during the previous year's festivities.

Mayor Auxi del Olmo stated that the addition aims to perpetuate the presence of the Marqueses in the parade and strengthen the historical and symbolic ties between Linares and Calatayud. The figures are currently on display at the Palacio Municipal's Patio de Cristales.
