Linares to host fifth Mining Route for hematology patients and staff

The Hematology and Hemotherapy Clinical Management Unit of the North Jaén Health Area will hold its fifth Mining Route in Linares on November 14. The event is designed as a healthcare humanization initiative, bringing together patients and medical professionals for physical activity and social interaction outside of a clinical setting.

This year’s 8.5-kilometer route, named ‘Filones en la Dehesa Las Yeguas’, is designed to be low difficulty with a maximum elevation change of 38 meters. Starting at 9:30 a.m. from the Adaro Church esplanade, the walk will guide participants through historical sites including La Cruz, the San Juan-Esmeralda veins, and El Cobre, showcasing the city’s industrial and mining heritage.

The initiative, which began in 2022, is supported by the Linares City Council and the Proyecto Arrayanes association, which provides historical context for the landmarks visited. Dr. Carmen Avellaneda, director of the unit, noted that the activity aims to connect with patients through shared experiences and physical exercise.
