Lincoln Riley addresses USC's young receivers and attendance concerns

USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley addressed both the performance of his young receiving corps and recent criticism regarding stadium attendance following a 42-26 victory over San Jose State.

Despite the absence of experienced wide receivers Tanook Hines and Terrell Anderson, Riley praised the performance of the team's freshmen. True freshman Trent Mosley recorded seven receptions for 118 yards, while four-star recruit Kayden Dixon-Wyatt also contributed to the win. Riley noted that the young players appeared steady and did not seem hesitant during their debut.

Riley also dismissed claims of a ‘false narrative’ regarding the crowd size at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The announced attendance of 51,144 was the program's lowest since 2018, a turnout influenced by a noon kickoff in 94-degree heat. While San Jose State coach Tosh Lupoi described the low turnout as ‘disheartening,’ Riley attributed the criticism to those who do not follow the program closely.
