Linda Cardellini discusses role in Crystal Lake horror prequel

Actress Linda Cardellini has shared insights into her role as Pamela Voorhees in the upcoming horror production, Crystal Lake. Set within the Friday the 13th universe, the project serves as a prequel exploring the backstory of the character.

The narrative focuses on Pamela Voorhees, a single mother and cook at Camp Crystal Lake, as she navigates the loss of her son, Jason Voorhees, while her own dark past emerges. Cardellini described the role as “daunting” due to the dedicated fanbase and the legacy of original actress Betsy Palmer.

Beyond the franchise's signature gore, the production aims to explore themes of grief, rage, and loss, specifically focusing on the “mother bear rage” experienced by the character.
