Linda Cardellini to star in ‘Crystal Lake’ Friday the 13th prequel

The Friday the 13th prequel series, ‘Crystal Lake’, is scheduled to premiere on Peacock on October 15, 2026. Produced by Peacock and A24, the eight-episode psychological thriller is set in the 1970s and explores the origins of the Voorhees family.

Starring Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, the series follows Pam as she struggles with the death of her son, Jason, nearly a year after he drowns in the camp's lake. The narrative is described by creator and showrunner Brad Caleb Kane as a paranoid thriller that delves into Pam's personal journey and the unsettling events triggered by strangers investigating her past.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Cardellini discussed the franchise's iconic ‘ki-ki-ki-ma-ma-ma’ sound effect. She clarified that the sound, originally created by composer Harry Manfredini, was derived from the syllables of the phrase ‘Kill them, mommy, kill them’ (or ‘Kill her, mommy, kill her!’) and confirmed that the signature audio will be featured in the new series.
