Linda McMahon: AI cannot replace teachers in schools

U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon stated that while Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be integrated into schools, it must not replace human teachers. Speaking at the White House, McMahon emphasized that AI should serve as a personalized tutor to assist students who are struggling or to provide advanced material for high achievers, while maintaining essential human contact in the classroom.

McMahon also addressed the Trump administration's plans for a 'hard reset' of the federal education system. She noted that since the Department of Education was established in 1980, over $3 trillion has been spent, yet test scores have continued to decline. As part of this restructuring, the administration aims to shift more control over schools to individual states and is pursuing inter-agency agreements to transfer certain departmental responsibilities to other federal agencies.
