Lindau considers legal action over Lake Constance motorhome plans
A dispute has emerged between the municipalities of Lindau and Wasserburg regarding a proposed development plan near Lake Constance. The plan, titled ‘Special Area for Motorhomes and Equestrian Sports,’ aims to establish new tourist and sporting facilities in Wasserburg.
Residents in the Bad Schachen district of Lindau have expressed concerns that the development will increase vehicle traffic through residential streets. In response, the city of Lindau is consulting with experts to determine if a legal challenge, specifically a ‘Normenkontrollantrag’ (standard judicial review), can be filed against the development plan. The city council must decide whether to pursue this legal action.
Local authorities are also investigating traffic calming measures to prevent Bad Schachen from becoming a thoroughfare for tourist traffic. While some resident requests, such as specific weight restrictions or certain one-way street configurations, face legal hurdles, the city plans to invest 20,000 euros in traffic counting equipment at the intersection of Enzisweilerstraße and Schachener Straße to gather data.
